1. About LocalConnect

LocalConnect is a service that connects customers with independent local vendors and businesses through WhatsApp. We help you find a vendor near you. We are an introducer and platform. We are not the provider of the actual service, and the vendor is not our employee.

3. The connection fee

The connection fee is a fixed charge paid to LocalConnect for matching you with a vendor. It is separate from the cost of the job itself.

No refunds. The connection fee is non-refundable once a vendor's contact has been shared, because the service we provide (the connection) has already been delivered. If a vendor fails to show up or behaves wrongly, please report it to us on WhatsApp and we will act, including removing the vendor from the platform.

4. Vendor verification and conduct

Every vendor is reviewed before they are activated. We collect a photo, a video introduction and identity details to keep the platform safe. However, LocalConnect cannot guarantee the quality, timing or outcome of any job. You should still use normal caution, agree clear terms with the vendor, and inspect work before final payment.

6. Suspension and removal

We may suspend or permanently remove any user or vendor who breaks these terms, scams others, or harms the safety of the community. For fraud investigations, we keep the records and media a vendor submitted as evidence.

7. Limitation of liability

LocalConnect provides the introduction only. To the maximum extent allowed by Nigerian law, we are not liable for any loss, damage, injury or dispute arising from the actual service carried out by a vendor. Any dispute about the job itself is between the customer and the vendor.

We may update these terms as the service grows. The latest version will always be on this page. Continuing to use LocalConnect means you accept the current terms.

1. Our promise

We respect your privacy. We collect only what we need to run the service, we keep it secure, and we never sell your personal data. We aim to follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act and good data practice.

2. What we collect

From customers: your WhatsApp number, the service you ask for, and your area or location, so we can match you to a nearby vendor.

From vendors: your name, phone number, service type, area, a passport photo, a short video introduction, and optionally your NIN. This is used to verify you and protect the community.

Automatically: basic technical details such as your device information and IP address, used to keep the platform safe and detect fraud.

4. Payments

Payments are processed securely by Paystack. LocalConnect does not store your full card details. Paystack handles card data under their own security standards.

5. Where your data is kept

Your information is stored securely with our technology providers (including Supabase for our database and storage). Access is restricted to authorised LocalConnect staff only.

6. Sharing

We share a vendor's contact with a customer only after the connection fee is paid. We do not sell or rent your personal data to advertisers. We may share information with law enforcement if required by law or to investigate fraud.

7. Your rights

You can ask us to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, by messaging us on WhatsApp. Please note: for fraud prevention and legal reasons, we may keep certain records (such as a banned vendor's verification media) even after an account is closed.

For Customers

How do I find a service?
Open WhatsApp and message us, or tap "I need a service" on our website. Tell us what you need and your area. We match you to a verified vendor near you in seconds.
What is the connection fee for?
It is a small fee paid to LocalConnect for connecting you with a trusted, verified vendor. It is separate from the price of the actual job, which you agree directly with the vendor.
Is my payment safe?
Yes. Payments are handled securely by Paystack, a trusted Nigerian payment company. We never see or store your full card details.
What if the vendor does not show up or does bad work?
Report it to us on WhatsApp immediately. We keep every vendor's full record and will act on complaints, including removing vendors who misbehave.
Do I need to download an app?
No. Everything happens inside WhatsApp, the app you already use.

For Vendors

How do I join as a vendor?
Tap "Sign up as a vendor" on our website, fill the short form, verify your WhatsApp number, and upload your photo and a short video. We review and activate verified vendors, usually within 24 hours.
Does it cost money to register?
No. Signing up as a vendor is free. We simply bring customers near you straight to your WhatsApp.
What kind of businesses can join?
Any honest local business or service: artisans, food, beauty, fashion, shops, tech, transport, professionals and more. If your exact trade is not listed, choose "Other" and type it in.
Why do you ask for my photo, video and NIN?
To keep the platform safe and build trust. Customers are far more comfortable hiring a vendor who has been verified. Your details are stored securely and never sold.
How do I get paid for a job?
You agree the job price directly with your customer and they pay you for the work. After the job, type RECEIPT on WhatsApp to send them a professional receipt.
